We connect with people, share content, and build trust with every post.
Now, if you know me, I am all about paid ads because less than 5% of your page fans and followers typically see what you post on social media. With that being said, posting on social media is still really important and a great way to grow your sales.
So if you would love to get more sales from your social media posts and stories, put me in the comments below!
All right, let’s dive in. Typically when I am looking at a business page or profile on Facebook and Instagram, they usually fall in one of two categories.
The first one is all they do is sell, sell, sell. You offer no value. You’re just wanting to sell whatever you have to offer and you’re constantly asking for the sale.
The other group, all they do is share, share, share. There’s no call to action and no one is asking for the sale.
Which camp do you fall in? Are you a sell, sell, sell or a share, share, share? If you really want to use social media to help grow your sales, you actually need to do both.
If you know Gary V., he describes this as the jab, jab, jab, right hook or share, share, share, sell, right? Now, that’s not saying every fourth post should be a sell of whatever it may be, but it means that you need to be making sure that you are sharing something of value, but also sharing call to actions so that you are converting your fans and followers into customers and clients, which you have to do if you want to grow your business and profit.
A lot of people get really scared about selling, and specifically afraid if I ask for the sale then they’re going to leave me. So here’s a really good tip on how to sell through your social media without being sleazy or “salesy”.
You can do that by creating a call to action or asking people to take an action by offering them something of even more value. In marketing, we call this getting people to opt in. So what does that mean? You could say go here to get a 10% off coupon then that customer gives you their name, their email address in exchange for the coupon. They opt-in because they are more in-market to purchase than some of the other people who may be following you.
This could also work as a webinar, people opt into a free training or a free guide. So if you’re scared of just asking for the sale or you feel like you need to warm up your audience a little bit more, what you can do is ask them to take an action and opt-in by offering them something of value.
By having them opt-in, you know which people are more likely or in the position or mindset to buy very soon and once they opt-in by providing you their information, you are able to follow up with them. Since you know that they are more likely in the market to buy now, you can also share with them a stronger call to action asking for that sale. It’s a great way to really segment your audiences into those who are just getting to know, like and trust you by being fans and followers, and then those who are ready to lean in more and really learn about how you can help them by opting in.
So the moral of the story is, if you wanna get more sales from your social media posts, you need to be sharing and selling. You need to be making sure that you’re giving value but also getting them to take action so they convert into a sale or a client. This goes for both posts as well as your stories.
Social media is not dead but again, you want it to work as hard as possible for you especially since less than 5% of your fans and followers are seeing what you post.
